Who is Pasuma?
Born Wasiu Alabi, Pasuma was born on the 27th of November, 1967. He is also known as Oganla, and he is a Nigerian film actor and Fuji musician. He was born to the Odetolas and he is now a familiar household name in Nigeria.

Pasuma was born in Mushin, Lagos State, and according to him, this greatly influenced his career. While growing up, Pasuma moved from place to place. At a time in his life, he was brought up in Kwara State. In 1973, Pasuma enrolled at Muslim Mission Primary School, and 6 years down the line, he moved to Nigerian Model High School to further advance his secondary school education.
Pasuma often talks about how he mostly suffered while growing up. According to him, on some days, he would eat only once daily, and at some points, his mother would have to ask him to wait till it gets dark before he eats, so he wouldn’t go to bed hungry.
At nine years old, Pasuma’s parents got separated and he was raised by his mother. His father wanted his son to be a medical doctor and he had great disdain for Fuji musicians as they were not known to be reputable income earners. His mother also wasn’t in support of her son’s decision to become a Fuji artist at first, but when she realized that his mind was made, she soon showed her support.
How Did Pasuma’s Singing Career Begin?
He started singing right from his secondary school days. While his peers were actively involved in sports, Pasuma and some of his friends would gather themselves and begin singing. He started writing his own songs in 1984 and he was greatly inspired by K1 De Ultimate, who released an album titled Talazo 84.
His musical career began at the tender age of 17, and he recorded his first album in 1993. He soon started working with Eru Owa Records, and his first album titled Recognition was recorded. He evolved significantly after graduating from secondary school, and his fame expanded beyond Mushin.
His second album, Choices, was recorded and according to the artist, the title was chosen because he recognized that so many Fuji musicians were popular in Mushin, and he was the only one recognized all over Africa.
