In an announcement revealed via its Twitter page. the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) announced 708 new cases of the Coronavirus (COVID-19). This new number made the total number of people infected in the country 157,671.
In a report by the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) the additional 708 new cases make it the first time since the 26th of February, where a daily count had surpassed 500.
The NCDC also stated that 12 COVID-19 related deaths had happened, making the total fatalities from the virus 1,951 in the country. The health agency also affirmed that these new infections were from 20 states of the country, and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) in the past 24 hours.
According to the news report, Adamawa recorded 180 new infections, while Lagos had 141 infections. Ondo had 60 infections, Anambra- 54, Rivers-41, Taraba-33, Edo-30, Abia-22, Kaduna-22, FCT-21, Akwa Ibom-20, Kano–20, Plateau-11, Ekiti-10, Kebbi-10, Nassarawa-10, Bayelsa-7, Ogun-5, Osun-5, Oyo-5, Gombe-1.The NCDC disclosed that 504 people were discharged after testing negative to the virus in the last 24 hours.
The NCDC also added that 136,335 people have also recovered from the virus and have been discharged. According to NAN, the country had tested 1.5 million people, since the first COVID-19 case was confirmed on the 27th of February, 2020.
